　ポイントは3つあるようです。

• speciesは作用側が発するものではない。作用側が受容側の質料に働きかけることにより、speciesが受容側が持つ質量の可能態から引き出される。

• speciesは本性的には物体的なものである。

• しかしspeciesはそれ自体では物体とは言えない。たとえば空気の質料から引き出されるspeciesは "a corporeal form that does not have dimensions of itself but is produced according to the dimensions of the air " である（『大著作』からの抜粋。lxiii頁）。
